Hej and a warm welcome to Runeholm!
We are Michaela and Marc, and since the summer of 2022 we have lived with our two sons on our farm in Småland, not far from Vimmerby in southern Sweden.
Before we emigrated, we lived with our sons, cats and dogs in our self-built house near Munich. Michaela worked as a bank clerk and credit analyst at a bank, and Marc, a Master Craftsman in Horticulture and Landscaping with a bachelor's degree, worked for many years for the City of Munich and later for a large municipality.
A dream comes true
We had long wished for a life in the countryside – with animals, in harmony with nature, with more self-reliance and above all with more time for our family. Everyday life with its professional obligations, however, kept pushing these wishes further into the background. We realised that we had to change something if we wanted not just to dream of the life we imagined, but to really live it.
So the wish became a concrete plan. Together with our sons, we decided to emigrate to Sweden. For more than two years we planned our move, sold our house and looked for a new home. In the summer of 2022 the time finally came: we left our former life behind and began a new chapter at Runeholm.
Our life at Runeholm
Today our everyday life revolves around our farm, our animals and the many small and large projects we want to realise here.
We enjoy spending more time in nature, working with our animals and creating things with our own hands. Of course, not everything always goes to plan. We learn something new every day, experience ups and downs and sometimes have to find new ways. For us, that is exactly what belongs to this self-determined life.
When we are asked today whether we regret our decision, our answer is a clear: No!

We know the pressure of everyday life from our own experience. In Munich we too were often exhausted, constantly under time pressure and hardly ourselves any more. Runeholm gave us our peace back. That is exactly what we wish for you too.
Whether the lake lies in morning mist or the stars are out in the evening sky, there is always something beautiful to discover here. You can get to know and feed our animals, sit by the fire in the evening and live through the day entirely without time pressure.
